Shadow of Chernobyl by RS-foto Shadow of Chernobyl by RS-foto
Well this is not actually from Chernobyl, but somehow it reminded me strongly of the game "S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow of Chernobyl" and it felt like a good name for the pic =)

The location of this shot is actually the same abandoned factory complex as in "Sleeping Giant"

Well it's hard to explain briefly but I'll try. I blended two exposures together to make kind of a manual HDR image. Then I used Hue/Saturation and Selective color to darken the colors and adjust tone. Also I used curves and duplicate layer with Overlay blend mode with masks to make local adjustments to the contrast. Actually now that I looked at the PSD file I noticed that there is acually not that much done to the colors and tone, mostly the sky.

Darkening the colors sometimes helps to make a gloomy feeling to photos like this ;)

yea, thats what i like of your work... it give an interesting feeling..... i wanted to do that to some of my stuff, and i dont have access to a good photo editor (at the moment, soon to), and it just take a little too much effort to get the tone right... but it did work out (or i hope it did)

I've always had a thing for abandoned buildings or structures, that are just taken over by nature over time, I can't explain why, I just do. Really love the picture!
