Night Shift by RS-foto Night Shift by RS-foto
This shot was taken one night after 'Captivating Moonlight' when it was still full(ish) moon. It was almost one hour after midnight and the sky was clear, only few clouds drifted by every now and then.

Since i had just been nightshooting the night before, I decided to do some experimenting with different kinds of night shooting methods. Here i used ISO 400 to get more stars to show up while trying to keep the exposure time short enough for the stars not to move too much. I didn't need any extra light sources since the full(ish) moon was already casting amazing light over the construction site.

Specs
Canon eos 5D | EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 USM | ISO400 | f/5.6 | bulb 81 sec

Hehe, for my camera it is xD. When i get over 7 sec shuttertime (just iso 100, closed aperture), the noise is taking over the image :P.

Love the angle and the hue of that time of night and light. Keep it up. The more good pictures I see, the less lazy I get, and actually go out and take some.

I love this one. There's something so cartoonish about the angle you're looking at it, and at the same time the contrast between the orange and the blue emphasises it and makes it even more fun to look at.

Thanks very much!

No HDR was used here, it's just one of the advantages of night photography and full(ish) moonlight with long exposures ;)
iso400 is very useable on most of the DSRLs, and i used 5D here which has very low noise factor, i was even able to shoot with iso1600 with bearable noise.

Here's some pointers: Try different angles and perspectives to make the target look interesting, low angle usually works pretty good. Pay attention on the lighting too, usually mid-day sunlight is too hard, and big fat clouds make the light dull, also the time of the day affects very much. I hope this helps!
